After a chaotic election, it will be another month before Peruvian voters will know who will be running for president.
Approximately 93 percent of the votes from last weekend's election have been counted. The top two of the 35 candidates in the presidential election will advance to the next round.
The former president's daughter Keiko Fujimori leads with 17 percent. But behind her, there is an even fight between leftist candidate Roberto Sánchez Palomino and ultra-conservative Rafael López Aliaga.
15,000 votes are to be recounted after the chaotic election, which had to be extended in some places due to a lack of materials. Four people were arrested after a raid on Friday, suspected of violating electoral laws.
However, EU election observers have not reported any electoral fraud.
