Israeli forces have shot dead a 15-year-old Palestinian boy in the occupied West Bank.

The boy was killed during an Israeli raid on al-Bireh, just north of Ramallah, the Palestinian Authority's health ministry said.

According to the Palestinian Red Crescent, the boy was taken to hospital with gunshot wounds to the head and chest.

The Israeli military has not commented on the incident.

Violence and tensions in the West Bank have increased during Israel's war in Gaza, which began after the Hamas attack in October 2023. At least 1,085 Palestinians have been killed in the West Bank by Israeli settlers or forces since then, according to figures from the AFP news agency.

In central Gaza, at least three people were killed in an Israeli drone strike on Monday, which Israel said was targeting "jihadists".

In total, more than 73,000 people have been killed in Gaza since October 2023, according to authorities in the Gaza Strip.
