Power outage and ice cream shortage as Trump's big fair opens

The White House's big fair in Washington on the occasion of the 250th anniversary of the United States, The Great American State Fair, has gotten off to a shaky start, American media reports. The event has been hit by recurring power outages, which has led to a shortage of ice cream in the heat, the Washington Post writes.

Even one of the big attractions, a Ferris wheel, has had problems.

– The entire event is behind schedule, says a person who works with the fair.

The challenger was removed from the ballot by the Alaska Election Commission, which agreed with the senator, but now a judge has ruled that Dan Sullivan number two is fully eligible to run in the election.

Political situation in Rwanda
The king is dead – but his cows are treated royally in Rwanda

The monarchy in Rwanda was abolished in the early 1960s, but the royal cows are still treated as dignitaries, writes AP.

The animals live in the royal residence, which is now a museum, and are courted with poetry and songs.

– You have beautiful horns. Move your head so we can see your beautiful neck and body. You are the most beautiful of cows, sings one of the cowkeepers.

Inyambo cows have long been associated with wealth and power in East Africa, and today the royal herd is one of the country's most important tourist attractions.
