Middle East Crisis Iran War

Trump's Threat Last Night: "Then Iran Will Not Exist"

Overnight, US President Donald Trump commented on the latest attacks on Iran and said that there is a risk of an even greater escalation of the conflict - despite the ongoing ceasefire. In a post on Truth Social, Trump writes that Iran may "never learn".

"And there may come a point where we can no longer be reasonable, but are forced to militarily finish the job we so successfully started. If that happens, the Islamic Republic of Iran will no longer exist!", Trump writes.

Top Republican: "Trump is acting as if Congress is an appendage"

Frustration is growing with US President Donald Trump - even within his own party. Republican Senator Bill Cassidy tells CBS News that he is unsure whether Trump understands that Congress is independent of the president.

“Sometimes he acts as if Congress is an appendage. Sometimes Congress acts as if it is an appendage,” he says.

Earlier this week, the House and Senate passed a resolution requiring Trump to suspend U.S. military action against Iran. Cassidy was one of a handful of Republicans who voted in favor.

The president called the resolution “ill-timed and senseless.” The next day, he asked Congress for the equivalent of nearly $100 billion for “urgent needs” related to the Iran war.
