At least four people have been killed in an Israeli airstrike targeting a vehicle in southern Lebanon, reports Lebanon's state news agency NNA.

On Monday, an Israeli drone hit a car in the Bint Jbeil district in southern Lebanon. NNA reports that the car had traveled from Nabatieh al-Fawqa and that one of the victims worked as a principal at a school in the area.

The Israeli military, which occupies parts of southern Lebanon, claims in a statement that "four suspects" approached Israeli forces and that the people were considered to pose a threat.

Israel has carried out attacks in southern Lebanon despite a current ceasefire with the Iran-backed Shiite militia Hezbollah.

Israel and Lebanon signed a first framework agreement on June 26 of this year that will eventually pave the way for peace, a gradual Israeli withdrawal, and the disarmament of Hezbollah.
