Hamas: Gaza's governing body to be dissolved

Hamas has announced that it will dissolve the body that has held power over the Gaza Strip for the past 20 years. The terror group announced this at a press conference in central Gaza, writes AFP.

The head of the body's crisis committee has reportedly submitted his resignation.

- He has also decided to dissolve the committee to facilitate the administrative and political transition to the national committee for the administration of Gaza, says Ismail al-Thawabta, a Hamas spokesman, to the news agency.

This would mean that there could be a political shift and open the door to Palestinian technocratic rule.

This is not the first time that the terror group has said that they are ready to dissolve the government, but the issue of disarmament has put a stop to the continued processes, writes TT.
