Police in Italy have raided several luxury brands, prosecutors in Milan said on Thursday.

The companies may have used subcontractors who exploit Chinese labor.

These include brands such as Bulgari, Chanel and Moncler. But also Brunello Cucinelli, Etro, Jacob Cohën and Stefano Ricci, among others.

The purpose of the raids is to collect documentation about the companies' supply chains.

One problem is that companies sometimes hire suppliers with a nice front who in turn squeeze margins by delegating the work to Chinese actors with exploited cheap labor.

Other brands, including Loro Piana, have previously been subject to temporary restrictions, which were lifted when the companies reviewed their supply chains.
