Iran threatens “all infrastructure” if US bombs bridges
Iran is threatening to destroy all infrastructure in the region if the US carries out its threat to attack power plants and bridges, reports the Washington Post.
Tehran’s response will be “more serious, broader and more destructive than ever,” says Ebrahim Zolfaghari, a spokesman for the military, in a statement in state media.
Zolfaghari says Iran will not allow the US or any other country to interfere in the Strait of Hormuz, calling it an “unbreakable red line”.
Expert: Risk of perpetual war after escalated attacks
The war between the US and Iran is entering a new phase with escalated attacks between the parties. Middle East expert Anders Persson tells SvD that there is a risk that the conflict will develop into an eternal war.
– I don’t think Trump will solve this during the time he has left in office, he says.
When asked if Persson believes that peace negotiations are still underway between the parties, he replies that “there are probably attempts underway”. However, he does not believe that there will be any breakthroughs.
It has been just over a week since Trump said that the ceasefire was over. Since then, the attacks have escalated.
