Man arrested for making death threats against Farage
British police have arrested a man who made a death threat on social media to Nigel Farage, the leader of Reform UK, writes The Telegraph newspaper.
The suspect wrote on X in connection with the UK local elections in May this year: "I will shoot you in the head if you win". He describes himself as a "terrorist" on the platform.
On Wednesday, Farage was informed by police that a man had been arrested on suspicion of making similar unlawful threats. The suspect was questioned and later released on bail.
Parliamentary authorities had flagged the threat to British police.
The arrest comes barely a week after the suspected murder of right-wing politician and former minister Ann Widdecombe.
Right-wing populist Reform UK and its leader Farage have for several years requested increased police protection.
