Ukraine's Defense Minister Resigns in New Reshuffle
Ukrainian Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov is the latest to resign in President Volodymyr Zelensky's reshuffle of the Ukrainian government.
"It has been a great honor to serve the Ukrainian people in the role of Defense Minister," Fedorov writes on Telegram.
According to a source with insight into the Kyiv Independent newspaper, current Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko has been offered the post of next Defense Minister.
The announcement is part of a larger reshuffle in the Ukrainian government. On Sunday, Zelensky announced that outgoing Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko is leaving her post.
Zelensky has singled out Serhiy Koretsky, head of state energy company Naftogaz, as the “best prepared” to take over as prime minister.
In January of this year, Zelensky reshuffled the government following corruption allegations.
