Kremlin: Will ”consider” whether Putin attends G20

The Kremlin stated on Thursday that it ”will consider” the US invitation for Russian President Vladimir Putin to attend the G20 summit in Miami in December.

”We naturally appreciate this invitation. We value it. It will be considered... and a decision will be made after that,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters.

US President Donald Trump stated last summer that an invitation for Putin was being prepared, and it was made public on Wednesday by Secretary of State Marco Rubio. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has also been invited to the summit.

Russia is an official member of the G20, but Putin has not attended the group's meetings since 2019.
