AI model hacked health insurance system
An AI model developed by OpenAI managed to hack Australia's health insurance system, Medicare, but the company did not acknowledge the breach until three months later.
Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese told domestic media that he raised the data breach with OpenAI CEO Sam Altman in New York on Wednesday.
"I expressed Australia's serious concern regarding this incident. I also conveyed my disappointment that it took the company far too long to inform the government," Albanese said, according to ABC News.
The AI model reportedly found a way into Medicare's system while analyzing the cost of healthcare to society.
According to Albanese, there is no evidence that the AI model accessed Australians' private data.
