Finland to release Swedes suspected of espionage
The two Swedish men held in custody in Finland on suspicion of espionage are to be released, reports P4 Västernorrland. However, the suspicions against them remain.
The two men were arrested in Finnish Lapland and remanded in custody last week. According to the police, the investigation has not yielded sufficient grounds to justify continued detention, the radio station reports.
The investigation is ongoing, and suspicions remain against the men, who are in their 40s and registered at an address in Västernorrland.
The alleged espionage offense took place around the turn of the month between August and September, police state.
The men are suspected of taking photographs in areas near facilities critical to Finland's security of supply, according to Svenska Yle.
