South Korea: Zelenskyy breached confidentiality regarding North Koreans
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy disclosed confidential information when he spoke about North Korean prisoners of war during his address to the UN General Assembly.
"I do not know why Ukraine broke our agreement and made the matter public, but it is a major disappointment," writes South Korean President Lee Jae-Myung on X.
In his speech on Wednesday, Zelenskyy revealed that Ukraine had secretly transferred two North Korean citizens—who had fought for Russia in Ukraine and been taken prisoner—to South Korea.
"The issue of transferring North Korean prisoners to the South is highly sensitive and could have significant repercussions for diplomacy, security, and the situation on the Korean Peninsula," writes Lee.
