71 million Danish kroner in tax money, intended for artillery shells for Ukraine, instead ended up with an Italian company that has never manufactured such shells, reports Danwatch.

The funds are part of a major support package—totaling over 300 million Danish kroner—unveiled by the Danish government in April of last year. The donation was facilitated through Estonia.

According to Estonian media, 71 million Danish kroner (equivalent to just over 100 million Swedish kronor) was promptly allocated for the procurement of artillery shells.

However, Ukraine has not received a single shell. The money went to an Italian software developer, which was acquired by Indian companies in 2024. None of these entities have ever manufactured artillery shells, yet they refuse to return the funds, Danwatch reports.

In September, Estonia’s then-Minister of Defence, Hanno Pevkur, resigned in connection with the affair. In Denmark, calls for an investigation are mounting.
