Record Amount of Nature Being Restored – But Still Far From UN Goals
Countries around the world are restoring a record-breaking 252 million hectares of nature—an area equivalent to the size of Argentina—as part of the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration, which began in 2021, according to a new report.
"This is the largest documented effort to restore nature in history," says Doreen Robinson of the UN Environment Programme.
However, the pace must triple to reach the UN’s goal of restoring one billion hectares by 2030. China is leading the way, with 137 million hectares of nature restored.

Sources: Trump Helped Bolsonaro Flee Brazil
Donald Trump and his administration helped Flávio Bolsonaro flee Brazil following his election defeat, sources told The New York Times.
According to the sources, the White House arranged the private jet that took Bolsonaro to Miami. Border authorities reportedly allowed him into the country using a temporary permit typically issued for humanitarian reasons. Documents also show that Bolsonaro was permitted to enter the U.S. using his invalidated diplomatic passport.
Bolsonaro is expected to apply for permanent residency in the U.S. According to the sources, his application is set to be processed on an expedited basis.
