Støre reconciles with Frederiksen
The Prime Ministers of Norway and Denmark have spoken and agreed to disagree regarding the value of the discussions held by the Norwegian and Finnish leaders with Vladimir Putin.
Jonas Gahr Støre told the Norwegian newspaper *Dagens Næringsliv* that his conversation with his Danish counterpart was “good.”
“Mette Frederiksen is a close partner, both politically and personally,” he says.
“We had a good phone call and agreed that we view the conversation (with Putin) differently.”
Earlier this week, Støre and Finnish President Alexander Stubb spoke by phone with the President of Russia regarding the war in Ukraine—a conversation described in a joint press release as “frank,” and which took place at the initiative of Støre and Stubb.
Neither Frederiksen nor Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson (M) had been informed about the call, and both subsequently expressed criticism that it had taken place.
