The Brazilian Presidential Election

Flávio Bolsonaro arrives in Miami following his disappearance from public view

Flávio Bolsonaro, who lost Brazil’s presidential election on Sunday, has arrived at an airport in Miami, Florida, AFP reports.

Bolsonaro was last seen in a video post on Instagram on Monday, in which he stated that the federal police had requested he surrender his passport. Bolsonaro is under investigation for suspected money laundering and corruption. Since then, media reports regarding his whereabouts have been inconsistent.

Bolsonaro, following his departure from the country: “I want to thank Donald Trump”

Flávio Bolsonaro confirms that he is in the United States—and claims he is the target of a “politically motivated witch hunt.”

“I want to thank President Donald Trump and the wonderful American people for welcoming me,” he says, according to Reuters.

In his statement, he once again accuses the government of electoral fraud and refers to himself as the “true president” of Brazil. Furthermore, Bolsonaro states that he intends to lead the opposition from the United States.

Bolsonaro was asked to surrender his passport following the election, amid an investigation into money laundering.
