Spanish police: The forest fire in Tenerife is arson
The
Spanish Civil Guard in the Canary Islands believes it has evidence that
the forest fire on the island was caused intentionally, the island
group's president Fernando Clavijo said at a press conference, according
to El Mundo.
The police say they have no suspects, but are investigating various leads.
Clavijo
further said at the press conference that the police must be given time
to work to find and arrest the alleged perpetrators.
- We suspected right from the start that it was a case of arson and it was confirmed yesterday Saturday, says Clavijo.
So far, over 13,000 islanders have been evacuated from their homes as a result of the forest fires.
