Hettan tar död på somrarna i Australien: ”Kan inte fly”
The heat is killing the summers in Australia: "Can't escape"
On the other side of the globe, Australians usually enjoy the summer heat this year. But in recent years, the summers have been characterized by unusually hot weather - every ten days have been warmer than 35 degrees, writes the BBC.
The channel has visited western Sydney, an area with widespread poverty and few opportunities to escape the heat.
- We don't have a nearby beach and can't escape the heat, says Sanaa Shah, who lives in the area.
She describes that on the hottest days she is forced to lock herself in as she gets migraines from the heat.

Study: 36,000 have died from heat in Australia in ten years
About 300 people have died and 7,000 people have been hospitalized because of Australia's heat over the past 10 years, according to the country's official health data. However, the BBC writes that research indicates that the real figure is much higher.
A study from the country's national university has concluded that the real death toll from the heat, in the years between 2006 and 2017, is 36,000.
Heat is called a "silent killer" as many do not understand that it is the heat that has made them sick. The study also shows that poorer urban areas suffer more than the well-developed residential areas along the coast.
