Scandalous Think Pink is required for 125 million
Botkyrka municipality is demanding SEK 125 million in damages from Think Pink, reports SVT Nyheter Stockholm. The reason for the claim is that the municipality had to remove tens of thousands of tons of waste from the garbage heap in Kassmyra.
- This should not affect the residents of Botkyrka. If the municipality cannot get money from the bankruptcy estate after Think Pink, we hope that the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency will cover the costs, says Lennart Agén, who is press manager in the municipality.
The waste in Kassmyra was abandoned when Think Pink, which was responsible for the facility, went bankrupt in 2020. Botkyrka later decided that the garbage should be carried away because it was considered that the waste posed health risks to residents in the area.
Think Pink's founder Bella Nilsson and several of her employees are expected to be prosecuted on Thursday. According to GP, the company has dumped 200,000 tons of garbage at 21 locations in central Sweden.

"Queen of trash" is charged with Sweden's biggest environmental crime
Think Pink's founder Bella Nilsson, known as the "Queen of trash", and ten others are charged in Sweden's largest waste scandal. Five of the suspects are charged with serious environmental crime.
- They are the ones who have been most active in this criminal activity, says Anders Gustafsson, head of the preliminary investigation, at a press conference.
The waste management company is accused of having dumped unsorted waste at 21 locations in central Sweden. According to GP, this is more than 200,000 tonnes of rubbish.
- The crime has been going on for a long time, says Anders Gustafsson.
The preliminary investigation covers 45,000 pages and is, according to Gustafsson, the biggest environmental crime in Sweden.
Bella Nilsson denies any wrongdoing.

The accused "queen" denies - but welcomes the prosecution
Bella Nilsson, who was one of the founders of the waste management company Think Pink, completely denies the accusations leveled against her in the indictment that was brought today, TT reports. At the same time, her lawyer Jan Tibbling welcomes the prosecution.
- In a way, it is good that there has finally been an indictment, so that she can defend herself in court, he says.
Nilsson, or "Queen of trash" as she has also been called, is one of five charged with serious environmental crime. Another six people are charged under other criminal classifications.
Think Pink is suspected of having dumped large amounts of waste on 21 slabs in central Sweden. According to GP, it is about 200,000 tonnes. But lawyer Tibbling says that the company has taken care of construction waste "according to laws and permits".
