At least 20 dead in landslides in Tanzania

At least 20 people are dead after a landslide in southern Tanzania, according to local authorities.

The landslide was caused by heavy rain combined with strong winds.

More rain is expected in the areas in the coming days and local authorities fear that the death toll could rise further. Residents in the landslide risk zone are therefore urged to evacuate.

The eastern parts of Africa have been hit hard by heavy rains recently.

Among other things, at least 81 people have died in Tanzania's neighboring country Kenya in floods.
