Three fighters have been killed in an attack on northern Iraq for which the US and Israel are blamed.
At the same time, French President Emmanuel Macron warns that Iraq could be dragged in when the war in the region escalates.
The three fighters were killed and four more were injured in an airstrike targeting Kirkuk in northern Iraq, the Iran-backed Shiite militia, the People's Mobilization Forces (PMF), said in a statement on Saturday.
The PMF, which is now part of Iraq's armed forces, blamed the attack on the US and Israel in the statement.
On Saturday evening, Emmanuel Macron wrote in a post on X that he had spoken to the president of the autonomous Iraqi Kurdistan.
"Everything must be done to prevent Iraq from being drawn into the ongoing escalation," the post from the French president states.
