Bloody stabbing attack in Pokémon store in Tokyo

The man attacked a female employee.

Then he cut his own throat – inside a Pokémon store.

Both are now dead, reports the Asahi Shimbun.

The stabbing occurred on Thursday evening, local time, in a shopping mall in central Tokyo.

According to the Japanese newspaper Asahi Shimbun, “a man with a knife has rampaged inside the Pokémon store.”

Surveillance cameras show him entering the store, getting behind the counter and stabbing a female employee. He then cuts his own throat.

Had a restraining order

According to information provided to the Asahi Shimbun, the woman, who was in her 20s, had previously contacted the police about stalking. A man is said to have had a restraining order and had previously been arrested for violating stalking laws.

A witness says the store was full of visitors – families with children and tourists.

Suddenly there was a loud noise, as if shelves were toppling over, followed by a woman screaming for help.

“I can’t believe something like that could happen,” he says.
