Information: F-35 to be delivered without radar after problems

The American F-35 fighter jets that will be delivered to the US military from this fall will lack radar, according to information provided to the American niche magazine Breaking Defense.

The problem concerns the upgraded APG-85 radar system, whose dimensions differ from the current APG-81 system. The new size has meant that the aircraft had to be redesigned, but due to delays in the production of the APG-85, the system is not ready for delivery at the same time.

This means that the fighter jets will not be combat-ready for some time, and how long is unclear.

– They can still receive the aircraft. They can still use it as an airworthy asset, but obviously not as a combat-class system. So they can still conduct limited training with it, one of the sources told Breaking Defense.

According to the sources, however, this will not affect deliveries of F-35s to other countries, as no country has received approval to use the APG-85.

Russian students will learn to kill with drones

In the Russian Murmansk region, students will soon have a new subject in the curriculum: training in killing with drones, reports The Barents Observer.

Earlier in March, teachers in the region received training in everything from repairing and maintaining drones to constructing the vehicles. The practical elements included map reading, flight simulators and physical drone flying.

Knowledge that the teachers will then pass on to the students.

According to the exiled Russian newspaper, Russia is in the process of introducing the training into the entire country's curriculum.

It is also part of a nationwide campaign in which the state is trying to attract young people to drone units within the military. The Russian Ministry of Defense is also offering students one-year contracts for service in such units. But the contracts are described as unclear and in practice lack an end date, which could tie them to the military indefinitely.
