Middle East crisis Iran war

Iran: We will attack hotels if Americans are staying there

Iran warns that it will attack hotels in the Middle East where American soldiers are staying. Military spokesman Abolfazl Shekarchi says on state television that hotels with Americans will be a legitimate target in the war, writes AFP.

– Are we just going to sit still and let the Americans attack us? Of course, we have to strike where they are, he says.

State media reports that Iran has sent “sharp warnings” to hotels in the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain, among others.

More than 3,000 people have been killed since the US and Israel attacked Iran, of which more than 1,400 were civilians, according to the US-based human rights organization HRANA.

UN anger over school attack: “Civilians suffer the most”

UN human rights chief Volker Türk is urging the US to speed up the investigation into the school attack in Iran in which at least 150 students were killed, international news agencies report.

He says the attack, which according to the New York Times was an American cruise missile on the first day of the war, has aroused a “deep sense of horror”.

– The images of bombed classrooms and grieving parents clearly show who pays the highest price for war: civilians, says Türk according to AFP.

He demands that justice be served after the serious incident.

Iran vows revenge after attacks on nuclear facilities

Iran vows revenge after attacks on nuclear facilities

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi says the country will avenge Israel's attacks on nuclear facilities on Friday, AFP reports.

- Iran will exact a high price for Israel's crimes, he writes in a post on social media.

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard has also issued an immediate evacuation order for employees of large industries in the Middle East with American shareholders, as well as companies in the region that, according to Araghchi, are "close allies" with Israel.

Israel: Has attacked Iranian nuclear facilities

Israel has attacked an Iranian nuclear facility in the city of Arak, the IDF says.

At the same time, Israel says it has also struck another nuclear facility in the city of Yazd. The facility in Yazd is said to be a uranium extraction facility, which, according to the IDF, is unique in Iran.

The attack in Arak earlier this afternoon took place shortly after Israel issued an evacuation order northwest of the city, in areas near the nuclear facility, writes CNN. According to the channel, it concerns a heavy water reactor that was still under construction.

Iran early on accused Israel and the United States of carrying out the attack.

Marco Rubio: Iran has not responded to the US peace proposal

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio says that they are still waiting for a response from Iran to the 15-point peace proposal that was sent at the end of last week, reports CNN.

He also says that the United States is waiting for clarification about who it is that it will negotiate with on the Iranian side.

– Who would we even talk to? What would we talk about, and when? When would the talks take place? says Rubio.

The answer could come as early as tomorrow or "at any moment," says Rubio.
