Month-long ground invasion of Iran one of Trump's options
The US defense headquarters, the Pentagon, has drawn up plans for what a limited ground invasion of Iran would look like and Donald Trump must now decide on the next step. Similar information has been circulating for weeks and this time it is the Washington Post that has been reached by the information.
According to the information, it is not a full-scale invasion, but a mix of various raids carried out by both special forces and traditional troops. One of the sources says that the operation would likely take a few weeks, while another expects a few months.
One of the informants describes the plans as extensive and well-developed, no "last-minute planning". Taking over Iranian territory would embarrass the enemy and give the US a better negotiating position, the source says.

Peace talks in Pakistan after “detailed” talks with Iran
Peace talks for the Iran war will be held in the Pakistani capital Islamabad on Sunday. But neither the US, Israel nor Iran will participate.
Instead, representatives from Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Turkey will be present. The talks will focus on how to ease tensions in the Middle East, writes AFP.
As part of the preparations, Pakistani President Shehbaz Sharif had a “detailed telephone conversation with my brother, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian”. The conversation lasted over an hour.
Pakistan has stepped forward in a mediating role. The country has long-standing and deep ties with Iran, has close relations with several Gulf states and also appears to be on good terms with Donald Trump.
Iran: Our soldiers are waiting for the US to invade
Iran is criticizing the US, accusing it of showing a willingness to negotiate while planning a ground invasion.
Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said in state media that the country must now prepare, AFP reports.
“Our men are waiting for the US soldiers to arrive so that we can set them on fire and punish their allies once and for all,” he said.
The move comes after reports that the US is preparing a ground invasion of Iran. Overnight, the Washington Post reported that one of President Trump’s options is a month-long operation with both special forces and conventional forces.
