Peace Talks
Qatar: Iran and US need more time to negotiate

The US and Iran need more time to reach a negotiated solution. This is what Majed al-Ansari, spokesman for the mediating country Qatar's Foreign Ministry, says, AFP reports. The statement comes after Donald Trump announced on Monday evening that he had stopped a planned attack on Iran at the request of Qatar, among others.

However, al-Ansari does not want to answer whether Qatar is optimistic about the conditions for the negotiations to actually lead to an agreement. However, he thanked the mediating country Pakistan for its efforts to achieve a diplomatic solution.

At the same time, Iran is threatening to "open new fronts" against the US if the American attacks resume.
