EU summit with Britain in July
The EU and Britain have agreed on July 22 as the date for the next summit between the leaders in London and Brussels.
The announcement comes from EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen after a meeting with Prime Minister Keir Starmer during the ongoing G7 summit in France.
The date has long been unclear, partly due to difficulties in achieving progress in negotiations on enhanced cooperation, and partly due to Starmer's uncertain position with internal demands for his resignation.
The G7 meeting discussed “our need to maintain our support for Ukraine, its armed forces and how prepared they are for the winter,” von der Leyen wrote in a post on X.
The EU-UK summits are attended by the British Prime Minister, the President of the European Commission and the President of the Council of the EU.
