Trump's tariff policy
Macron takes the wine threat in stride: "Will talk to Trump"
Donald
Trump is making new tariff threats against France and demanding that
the country abolish the three percent tax for global tech companies.
Otherwise, the US will impose a 100 percent tariff on French wine and
champagne, the president says in an interview with the New York Post.
- Macron would not be subjected to this type of pressure if he abolished the tax, says Trump.
This
is not the first time Trump has attacked the French wine industry. But
French President Emmanuel Macron is taking it all in stride, writes AFP.
He will raise the issue with his American counterpart during the
ongoing G7 meeting in Évian, France this week.
- We will have a respectful but clear discussion, says Macron.
Newsom: Being investigated by DOJ so I can run in the election
California
Democratic Governor Gavin Newsom says he and his wife are being
investigated by the DOJ, Reuters reports. He accuses Donald Trump of
using the department as a bat in a post on X.
"Donald Trump is
not only after me because of my nasty tweets. He is after me because I
am considering running for president," he writes.
Newsom claims
that federal agents have knocked on the doors of his family members,
friends and former employees to demand documents from them.
