Zelensky proposed meeting with Putin during G7 meeting
President Volodymyr Zelensky has suggested that Russian President Vladimir Putin visit the ongoing G7 meeting for direct talks with Ukraine.
Zelensky's statement on Monday came as the summit began in Evian-Les-Bains, France.
Zelensky stated that Moscow was "not ready" for such a meeting.
– We left – before the G7 meeting began – a message that we were ready to meet with Putin during the meeting, Zelensky said in connection with his visit to the world heritage-listed monastery in Kiev that was severely damaged in Russian attacks.
The move took place in connection with the arrival of US President Donald Trump at the summit.
The G7 group includes, in addition to France and the US, the UK, Italy, Germany, Canada and Japan, as well as a representative of the EU.
