The House of Representatives in the US Congress has voted for the withdrawal of US troops from the war in Iran.

Four Republicans opposed President Donald Trump and voted with Democrats to end the war. Trump claims that the war is already over, with the ceasefire that exists between the US and Iran, but American military is still in the area.

The vote mainly has symbolic value as Trump can veto it if the Senate also votes against him.

Trump claimed earlier on Wednesday that peace talks with Iran are going "very well".

“I hear that the negotiations themselves are actually going very well,” Trump said at a press conference in the Oval Office, adding that an agreement could be reached this weekend.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi painted a different picture in an interview earlier Wednesday with Lebanese television channel Al Mayadeen.

The channel of communication with the United States remains open, but no “tangible progress” has been made in the negotiations, Araghchi said.
