Sources: Secret meetings underway on more nuclear weapons in Europe
The US may deploy more fighter jets capable of carrying nuclear weapons in Europe, according to Financial Times sources. According to the newspaper's information, the aim would be to reassure other NATO countries that American security guarantees apply even if the number of soldiers on site is reduced.
Poland is mentioned as a possible country, and Polish representatives are said to have expressed interest in having such aircraft on its territory.

French defense chief warns that the country's military is too small
French defense chief Fabien Mandon warned earlier this year that the country's military is too small and that weapons production must be stepped up. This is reported by Politico, citing a recently published summary from a closed Senate meeting.
– We have not yet reached the level required to fully meet the challenges ahead, Mandon is said to have said during the meeting that took place in April.
He also warned that Germany could overtake France as Europe's largest military power.
– For the Americans, Germany is gradually becoming the European reference point, he said.

EU takes steps against migrant camps outside the Union
The EU Parliament agreed on Monday on a start date for the EU's return regulation, reports TT.
This opens the way for EU countries to be able to place people who have been expelled, but who for various reasons cannot be returned to their home countries, in so-called return hubs in countries outside the EU.
– We must take control of migration to Europe. Over 70 percent of those whose asylum applications have been rejected do not return. The EU is now taking an important step towards a migration policy where a no also means a no in practice, says EU parliamentarian Tomas Tobé (M) to TT.
It is still unclear which countries may host the return hubs.
