Iran retaliates for US nighttime attacks

The US has carried out another wave of attacks on several cities in Iran overnight. Iran is responding with attacks on US military facilities in the vicinity.

At the same time, President Donald Trump claims that Iranian assets will be used to replace damage to ships.

The latest wave of US attacks began shortly after midnight and ended about three hours later. The US and Iran have now targeted each other with airstrikes for 13 nights in a row.

"The attacks are aimed at holding Iran accountable and reducing the threat to commercial shipping from the Revolutionary Guard," writes the US Centcom on X.

Iranian regime-linked media are reporting explosions in several places in the country overnight. Four people were reportedly killed in an attack in the city of Ahvaz, and explosions were also heard in other cities.

According to Iranian authorities, the US attacked a base for the Revolutionary Guard in Gilan province, state media reports.

Alarm in Bahrain

On Friday morning, the air raid alert went off in Bahrain. An AFP journalist on the spot testified to loud explosions.

Iran's military said it had carried out attacks on US bases in Bahrain and Jordan, in retaliation for the latest US attacks.

"This morning, attacks were directed against fuel tanks, large equipment warehouses and silos, as well as buildings belonging to the US terrorist army at the Isa air base in Bahrain with Arash kamikaze drones," the military wrote in a statement.

There were no reports of attacks from Jordan during the morning. There were reports from Erbil in Iraq that drones had been shot down, reports the Kurdish news channel Kurdistan24. Earlier in the war, American bases in the city have been attacked.

Iran warns other countries against assisting in the US attacks.

Shortly before last night's wave of attacks, Donald Trump stated that Iranian frozen assets will be used to replace damage caused by Iran.

"Let this statement, for now, serve as an assurance that from now on, any damage to ships, cargo or anything related to this will be replaced with Iranian funds in the possession and control of the United States," Donald Trump writes in a post on Truth Social.

Iran warns that American use of the assets will set a "dangerous precedent."

"Those who rejoice or benefit from this should remember: once governments normalize confiscation, no one's assets are safe. The chaos that follows will not be beautiful or peaceful," writes Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi on X.
