Oil prices are soaring – after escalation: “Powerful punishment”

The price of oil is soaring after the attacks in the Middle East.

But the US Secretary of State believes that one side in the war has been tricked.

– They were tricked into this by the Iranians, says Marco Rubio to CNN.

The oil price is taking off again after the escalation in the Middle East. For the first time since May, the price has passed $100 a barrel, reports CNBC.

The price increase comes after the Houthi rebels said they attacked two Saudi oil tankers in the Red Sea yesterday evening.

At the same time, the US has attacked Iran for 12 nights in a row, reports the BBC. US Secretary of State 

“Deceived”

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio met with reporters in the Philippines on Thursday. He said that the Houthi rebels have been wise enough to stay out of it so far, and that it is now up to the militia group to “de-escalate” the situation.

– Now, however, they seem to have allowed themselves to be drawn into this by attacking Saudi Arabia and their ships.

– I hope this will be de-escalated, because I honestly believe that the Houthis have been deceived into this 

by the Iranians, Rubio continued.

"Powerful punishment"

On Truth Social, President Donald Trump writes that he holds Iran directly responsible for the attacks and continues:

“If they do this again, Iran will be subject to powerful military punishment, and that includes the Houthis themselves, of course. I am very disappointed in them, because up until now they have acted very professionally and wisely.”
