Five killed in West Bank – Netanyahu vows action

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says he will act with “full force” after an Israeli settler was killed in the occupied West Bank, writes AFP.

Four Palestinians and one Israeli were reportedly killed in a confrontation in the village of Tell on Friday. Residents in the village told The Guardian that Israeli settlers, supported by the military, attacked early on Friday morning.

The Israeli military said in a statement that they acted to defend Israeli hikers who were attacked by Palestinians.

According to The Guardian, Israeli settlers have previously called for attacks with the aim of “obliteration” the village of Tell.

Warns of new attacks – village seeks international protection

The mayor of the village of Tell in the West Bank is calling for international protection after an Israeli was killed in the area, Al-Jazeera reports.

According to the TV channel, revenge attacks by Israeli settlers are common when Israelis are injured or killed in the region.

According to the Times of Israel, the Israeli army also states that there is an “atmosphere of revenge” among settlers and that it is working to prevent acts.

Five people, four of whom were Palestinians, were shot dead near Tell on Friday morning. According to the Israeli army, soldiers opened fire when a Palestinian man tried to take a settler’s weapon. Residents of the village instead state that armed Israeli settlers attacked without the army intervening.
