Zelenskyj in talks with the US: Will "revive diplomacy"

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyj has spoken by phone with US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, Reuters reports.

“It was a good, important conversation about how to revive diplomacy and move closer to peace,” Zelenskyy wrote in a post on X.

Zelenskyy also wrote that the United States and Ukraine are in close contact.

“I thank Steve and Jared for their personal efforts to promote peace,” he wrote.

EU under time pressure – Russian oil revenues may rise

EU ambassadors will meet again on Wednesday to reach a compromise on a new sanctions package against Russia, writes TT.

The disagreement concerns, among other things, the issue of a ban on the purchase, import or transport of Russian liquefied natural gas (LNG).

To avoid the price ceiling on Russian oil being raised from $44 per barrel to $58, an agreement must be reached by Thursday at the latest.

Last week, negotiations on the sanctions package, which is the 21st from the EU, failed.

EU under tidspress – ryska oljeintäkter kan stiga

EU-ländernas ambassadörer möts på onsdagen än en gång för att nå en kompromiss om ett nytt sanktionspaket mot Ryssland, skriver TT.

Oenigheten gäller bland annat frågan om ett förbud mot köp, import eller transport av rysk flytande fossilgas (LNG).

För att undvika att pristaket på rysk olja höjs från 44 dollar per fat till 58 dollar krävs att en överenskommelse nås senast på torsdag.

Förra veckan misslyckades förhandlingarna om sanktionspaketet, som är det 21:a från EU.
