Sources: Iran Rejects US Ceasefire Proposal
Iran has rejected a US ceasefire proposal, Iranian and Iraqi sources tell the New York Times.
The proposal was reportedly delivered by Iraqi President Ali al-Zaidi during a visit to Tehran. Iranian President Abbas Araghchi appears to have confirmed receipt of the message in a statement to state media, but also says it has not changed relations with the US.
– The problem is the US attitude, which is illogical, greedy and controlling, he says.
Satellite images show: Iran is rebuilding quickly
Iran has been rapidly rebuilding infrastructure damaged in US and Israeli air strikes. This is according to satellite images and information from Israeli and Western sources, writes the Wall Street Journal.
Military bases, bridges, ports and factories have been repaired and weapons stockpiles have been replenished at a rate that worries Israel. That explains how Iran has been so resilient despite tens of thousands of airstrikes, the sources said.
Iran rebounded just as quickly after the 12-day war with Israel last summer, according to former Israeli commander Ran Kochav.
“They replenished their stockpiles. They have very impressive industrialization and reconstruction capabilities,” he said.
Trump Considers Massive Attack on Iran: “They’ve Felt Too Little Pain”
In an interview with Axios, Trump said he was considering attacks on Iran that were even bigger than the ones the US carried out when the war began. He said he had not made a final decision yet, but that he was close.
Trump also said Iran “wants to negotiate” but was not ready to make a deal yet.
“They haven’t felt enough pain yet,” he said.
In a post on his own platform Truth Social, he promises a “major military punishment” for Iran and its allied Houthi rebels, after the Houthis attacked two Saudi oil tankers in the Red Sea.
In the post, Trump writes that he is “very disappointed” with the Houthis, who “have behaved very professionally and smartly up until now,” according to the president.
