Trump paid tribute to the late Senator Graham
Large parts of the American political elite gathered on Tuesday at the Washington National Cathedral to say goodbye to Republican Senator Lindsey Graham.
– He was a friend none of us will forget, said President Donald Trump in his speech.
Trump and large parts of his government, many senators and not least foreign dignitaries such as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyj attended the ceremony.
The speeches followed each other during the evening and Donald Trump gave a 15-minute eulogy to the senator – in which he also recalled Graham's hawkish stance on conflicts in the world.
– He never saw a war he didn't like. But it was for the good of our nation, said Trump.
Graham died on July 12, aged 71. He will be buried in his home state of South Carolina on Wednesday.
