Donald Trump is seeing red after Iran's attacks tonight.

The US will "kick the shit out of Iran", he says.

At the same time, the US and Saudi Arabia have attacked targets in Iraq and the war risks spreading.

Early on Wednesday morning, Iran fired a series of missiles at US forces in the Middle East.

The US states that they have acted and Centcom writes on X that all Iranian missiles were shot down.

"All Iranian missiles were successfully repelled. US forces remain vigilant and on high alert", they write.

Will get beaten"

Donald Trump calls it a surprise attack and tells Fox News that the US only had a few minutes to respond to the attack.

Now the American president wants revenge.

– We will hit them hard. They will get beaten, Trump tells Fox News.

American attacks on Iraq

At the same time, the United States and Saudi Arabia have launched joint attacks on Iranian-backed armed groups in Iraq. 20 people were killed and 32 wounded in the attacks, which targeted several bases around Iraq, according to the Iran-backed Shiite militia, the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF).

These are the first American airstrikes in the Middle East since last Friday, according to Reuters.

Iraqi men are said to have shouted “death to America” as they carried dead soldiers and body bags out of a hospital in northern Iraq, the news agency writes.

The US and Saudi Arabia say the attacks are in retaliation for drone strikes on Saudi oil facilities launched from Iraq.

The US has bases in several countries in the Middle East that have been the target of Iranian attacks during the war.

The war could escalate

In recent days, the situation between the countries has been relatively calm, but now the risk of a major war is increasing once again, writes AP.

Reuters reports that this is the first time during the war that Saudi Arabia has publicly admitted that it participated in attacks together with the US. It could broaden the conflict by drawing Saudi Arabia into battles against Iran-backed groups on a new front.
