Sharp increase in EU aid to Ukraine

European countries gave Kiev 7.2 billion euros in military aid in June. This is the highest amount in more than two years, data from the German Kiel Institute shows.

The main reason for the increase is that the EU recently introduced a support loan to Ukraine of 90 billion euros for 2026 and 2027.

In addition to the loan support, Germany allocated 700 million euros, Denmark 600 million euros and the Netherlands 500 million euros to support Ukraine's military.

But in a larger perspective, the support is still below the levels that prevailed before US President Donald Trump cut US aid in February 2025.

Before February 2025, Ukraine's allies allocated an average of 3.46 billion euros per month in military aid to the country. Since then, the figure has dropped to 2.94 billion euros.
