The US ambassador to Israel condemns the Israeli settlers’ siege of Palestinians in the West Bank.

Settlers near Nablus have been blocking Palestinian homes, including one owned by a US citizen, since Sunday. Residents say they have been prevented from accessing food and other necessities.

“The actions of those who carried out this horrific act of terror to intimidate and harass this family are repugnant,” writes US Ambassador Mike Huckabee on X.

The statements attract extra attention because Huckabee usually supports the settlements in the West Bank, which Israel has occupied since 1967 and is considered illegal in the eyes of the outside world.

Violence against Palestinians by Israeli settlers in the West Bank has increased sharply since Hamas’s attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, which marked the start of the Gaza War.
