Many hostages rescued in Pakistan
Pakistani security forces have killed five people in the southwestern part of the country during an operation in which 23 hostages were rescued.
The forces targeted illegal separatist groups in Balochistan province that had set up a roadblock; according to the military, the groups were stealing vehicles, kidnapping people, and extorting money from passersby.
Several trucks and buses, as well as weapons and ammunition, were recovered during the operation.
Pakistan accuses India of supporting separatists—a claim India denies.
