Ukraine reportedly launched over 1,000 drones and other projectiles at Russia overnight into Sunday. Hundreds were aimed at Moscow.
Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin accuses Kyiv of attempting to disrupt the Russian election—which concludes on Sunday—and claims that 450 drones heading for the capital were shot down. According to him, this marks the largest Ukrainian attack on Moscow to date.
A 21-story building was struck, and an oil refinery sustained damage.
Andrey Vorobyov, governor of the Moscow region, wrote on Telegram that at least two people were killed in separate locations.
Reports regarding the number of projectiles launched at Russia—including those targeting the Black Sea and Russian-occupied territories—vary slightly; Sobyanin cites a figure of 1,600, while the Russian military claims to have shot down just over 1,100 drones.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy wrote on X that a logistics facility was also hit during the massive assault, which involved not only drones but also the domestically produced "Pelikan" ballistic missile and "Flamingo" cruise missile.
"We are talking about billions of dollars that keep the war machine running," Zelenskyy wrote, referring to the economic pressure Kyiv hopes to exert on the Russian economy.
He further noted that a monastery in the Kherson region was struck by a Russian drone over the weekend, resulting in one fatality. A mother and her two children were killed, as was another child, in an attack in the Kyiv region, according to Governor Tymur Tkatchenko.
