Widespread protests are taking place across France. In Paris, over a hundred people have been arrested, and in Marseille, demonstrators have entered the city hall, reports the French newspaper Le Figaro.

Roads have been blocked, trash bins set on fire, and numerous unauthorized demonstrations have taken place in various parts of France during a turbulent Saturday morning.

In Marseille, a police station was attacked, and by lunchtime, demonstrators were reported to have broken into the city hall and attempted to barricade themselves inside, according to Le Figaro.

Around 12:00, the Paris police announced that 100 arrests had been made and more than 500 individuals had been stopped and checked in the capital.

A planned demonstration march, authorized by the police, is set to depart at 14:00 from the Place de la République in Paris. Police have reportedly used tear gas against the demonstrators, AFP reports.
