Tear gas and rubber bullets used against protests in Argentina
Demonstrators have clashed with police in Argentina during large-scale protests against cuts to the education budget.
Thousands of students, university staff, and activists gathered outside the parliament in Buenos Aires on Thursday to demonstrate against President Javier Milei's budget cuts to higher education.
The main body of the demonstration remained peaceful, but the situation reportedly escalated when dozens of individuals broke away from the crowd and threw stones at the police. The police responded with tear gas, water cannons, and rubber bullets.
According to AFP, the clashes lasted for about an hour. At least 25 people have been arrested in connection with the protests, and eight police officers were reportedly injured.
