Between 400 and 500 French schools will be fully or "partially" closed on Monday following widespread protests across the country, Education Ministry official Édouard Geffray stated on Sunday, according to BFMTV.
At least 24 schools have been set on fire or looted since the protests began, according to Geffray.
On Friday, over 400 schools were closed, and television footage showed police using tear gas to disperse protesters in cities such as Toulouse.
Around 2,000 people were detained by police, and hundreds of officers were injured during unrest surrounding French schools last week.
Students are protesting against issues ranging from scheduling and teacher shortages to overcrowded classrooms.
