Reports: Swede detained by Russian intelligence service
A Swedish citizen has been detained by the Russian intelligence service, the FSB, after illegally crossing the border, reports the Russian state news agency Tass.
The Swede was detained in the Sebezhsky District of the Pskov region and is alleged to have “planned terrorist attacks against military facilities” in Russia, Tass writes.
“Under the pretext of joining the Russian armed forces, he was traveling to the Russian Federation to commit acts of sabotage and terrorism against military facilities,” the FSB stated, according to Tass.
In a video circulating in Russian state media, the man in question is shown being interrogated by the Russian security service.
The Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs has no further information.
“The Ministry for Foreign Affairs is aware of the media reports, but is not currently handling such a case,” the Ministry wrote in an email to TT.
