Sources: Republicans concede the House of Representatives
Several top congressional Republicans consider it virtually impossible for the party to retain its majority in the House of Representatives following the November midterm elections, five party sources told Politico.
The focus has reportedly shifted from trying to hold the majority to "saving" as many seats as possible. The sources state that a number of districts the party previously hoped to win are now considered lost.
Support could be withdrawn from a number of candidates, as Republican groups have concluded it is no longer worth spending advertising funds in districts they cannot win.
"That is not what a party does if it intends to keep the House," one source said.
The sources remain hopeful that the party will retain its majority in the Senate.

Ossoff: I have zero interest in becoming president
Georgia Democrat Jon Ossoff says he intends to serve his full six-year Senate term if re-elected.
"I have zero interest in campaigning for the presidency. I am not campaigning to become president; I want to be re-elected to the Senate," he said, according to US media.
Despite repeatedly making similar statements, Ossoff remains one of the early favorites to become the Democratic presidential nominee in the 2028 election. Names such as Kamala Harris, Gavin Newsom, and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez are also mentioned in this context.
Sources: Investigation focuses on Omar’s citizenship
The investigation into progressive Congresswoman and Trump critic Ilhan Omar concerns her citizenship. Several sources have stated this to The Washington Post.
Omar has long dismissed allegations that her father—a Somali refugee—provided an incorrect date of birth for her. This allegedly enabled her to obtain citizenship as a minor 26 years ago. However, according to reports, these are the accusations that the federal Department of Homeland Security is investigating.
The agency conducted a search of Omar’s home this week. She claims the action was politically motivated.
