The White House warns: Aid to Ukraine will end at New Year's
Funding to support Ukraine in the war against Russia will run out at the turn of the year, the White House warns, urging Congress to act. This is reported by the Financial Times.
"If Congress does not act, at the turn of the year there will no longer be enough resources to acquire more weapons and equipment for Ukraine," writes White House Budget Director Shalanda Young in a letter to leading representatives of both the Republicans and Democrats.
"We are out of money and almost out of time," she writes further.
Republicans oppose President Joe Biden's extensive support for Ukraine. Biden believes that $106 billion is needed in emergency funding for efforts in Ukraine, Israel and Asia.

Presidential election in Argentina
Milei's election victory temporarily stops the giant agreement with the EU
The free trade agreement between the four Mercosur countries Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay and the EU has been postponed, according to international media referring to CNN Brasil. The plan was to reach an agreement at the summit on December 7, but Argentina has announced that it wants to postpone the decision until the new president Javier Milei is sworn in, writes Politico.
Argentina's future foreign minister Diana Mondino tells Reuters that the incoming government aims to conclude a trade agreement between the European Union and the Mercosur countries.
- The world doesn't end on December 7 [...] And hopefully it will at some point, somehow.
The agreement has the potential, according to DI, to become one of the world's largest free trade agreements.
